Sand to Skyscrapers: LA Expo Line Now Open

By: Daniella Soloway

Expo-Line-Phase-IILos Angeles is notorious for its traffic, but revered for its beaches. Now that the Los Angeles Expo line route has opened from Santa Monica to downtown LA, we can all can bask in all the city’s glory without having to experience the road rage.

Largely funded by Measure R, passed by the city’s voters in 2008, the $1.5 billion extension includes seven new stations that bridge the gap between its former terminus in Culver City to its new endpoint at Fourth Street in downtown Santa Monica.

Officials estimate that the travel time from the heart of the city to the coastal sands should take about 46 minutes. Riders can park for $2 a day at the Expo Line’s Phase 2 parking stations.
