San Jose’s Valley Fair Mall Bounces Back

The pandemic has left its mark on the retail sector, especially at many indoor malls which have shut down thanks to the extraordinary loss of business. But there have been some success stories, and you can include Westfield Valley Fair, located at 2855 Stevens Creek Boulevard in San Jose, CA, in that discussion.

Fresh off a $1.1 billion expansion and renovation, the mall is seeing retail sales that exceeds pre-pandemic levels, according to the Bay Area News Group. Sue Newsom, the senior general manager at Westfield Valley Fair, says foot traffic is at an all-time record high and more stores will be moving in.

The expansion added a three-level Bloomingdale’s department store, a luxury cinema, a new Apple Store, 500,000 square feet of new shop space and a restaurant row. The mall’s success has occurred, despite the hanging cloud of the European owner, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, disposing of properties as it reduces its footprint in the United States.
