Levi Strauss Renews Major San Francisco Lease

San Francisco’s Levi’s Plaza Sold in Blockbuster $820M Deal

Atlanta-based Jamestown finalized a long-speculated deal to acquire San Francisco’s Levi’s Plaza, the headquarters of Levi Strauss & Co., from a partnership that included developer Gerson Baker & Associates. Real Capital Analytics pegs the blockbuster sales price at roughly $820 million, making it one of the largest deals in city history.

Jamestown’s Michael Phillips said in a statement, “Levi’s Plaza provides respite from the largely vertical office environment of San Francisco, its buildings and surrounding park serve as connective tissue bridging historic Jackson Square and the North Waterfront. The outdoor space is rare among San Francisco workplaces, making Levi’s Plaza a desirable location to work.”

The roughly 930,000-square-foot complex spans nine buildings at 1155 Battery St. The clothing company, widely-recognized for its jeans, has maintained its headquarters at the property since it opened in 1982. Its lease for about 354,000 square feet reportedly expires in 2022.

The transaction was brokered by Eastdil Secured.
