San Diego Hotel Tax Delayed

An expected ballot measure to increase San Diego’s hotel tax is now on hold.

The hotel tax measure has been delayed until November, to make way for other proposals, including the potential expansion of the San Diego Convention Center and/or a new Chargers stadium. The tax proposal was originally planned to hit ballots in June.

Donna Frye, a former city council member and one of the leaders of the hotel tax initiative, says a reason for the delay is that more people usually vote in November, and they are looking for the highest possible turnout to support the  measure.
