San Antonio’s $2.5 Billion Airport Expansion Plans Emerge
At a recent meeting of the San Antonio City Council, City Manager Erik Walsh told those in attendance, this is no small item, “This is not a streets project. This is not building a fire station. This is a massive capital project.” Walsh and airport officials briefed the council on the latest plans and proposals.
The first phase of a new 17-gate Terminal C is in the planning stage with construction set to start in 2024 and completion in 2028.
In the coming months, airport officials will hold pre-solicitation meetings to invite bids for several high-profile contracts valued at over $210 million. Among them are master architect, construction manager, lead engineer, a ground loading facility and baggage handling systems.
The San Antonio Airport averages 10.4 million deplanements, or passengers boarding an aircraft, each year.
