San Antonio to Corporations: We Have Land, and Lots of It

In the midst of some major Texas metropolitan areas grappling with dwindling acreage, San Antonio has one message to developers and corporate relocators: We have land. This message, in fact, is what San Antonio economic development leaders want to share with companies considering moves and expansions.

Bexar County’s David Marquez told the San Antonio Business Journal that, in recent weeks, San Antonio has come through with large amounts of land for large projects. A $400-million Aisin AW auto parts manufacturing facility will be built on 160 acres in Cibolo, while Navistar announced a planned truck facility to the south.

Port San Antonio has 400 undeveloped acres, and Brooks is coming in with 350 acres of undeveloped land and an additional 200 acres containing vacant buildings. In addition, Bexar County officials are eyeing hundreds of acres near the Union Pacific multimodal terminal, south of San Antonio.
