San Antonio River Authority Considering San Pedro Creek Site

The San Antonio River Authority is responsible for overseeing the transformation of San Pedro Creek. The organization, which has its headquarters on Guenther Street, is searching for a possible new headquarters site. Some of the locations targeted are along San Pedro Creek, the very waterway that the SARA is working to improve.

SARA’s Suzanne Scott told the San Antonio Business Journal that the organization is evaluating its current facilities, as well as studying longer-term space needs, and confirmed that “some sites along San Pedro Creek have been explored.” SARA is also looking at sites on the San Antonio River. Scott indicated that new headquarters consideration is still in the exploratory stage, however.

The $175-million redevelopment began in 2016. Grand opening on the first phase will take place May 5, 2018, in time for San Antonio’s Tricentennial.
