White Properties San Antonio Plaza Hotel and Spa to reopen this summer

San Antonio Hotel Getting New Look, New Name

The hotel has had a number of name changes, and White Lodging hopes this one sticks. White Lodging is renaming a well-known San Antonio lodging option and is giving it a new look. The hotel, briefly known as The Otis Hotel, and the Marriott Plaza Hotel before that, will become part of the company’s new Autograph Collection and be called the Plaza San Antonio Hotel & Spa, Autograph Collection.

The 253-room hotel at 555 S. Alamo St. has had “plaza” in its name since it first opened in 1979 as the Plaza Nacional, making its new name a natural fit for this social gathering place. It’s expected to reopen this summer.

The Plaza San Antonio Hotel will feature oversized guest rooms, as well as repurposed historic buildings that will be home to a new day spa and unique bungalow suites.  The renovated hotel will feature an outdoor bar, on-site restaurant, resort-style swimming pool and new meeting spaces. It will also include new signage referencing the hotel’s historic elements.
