San Antonio Home Sales Increase by 4% Year Over Year

The first month of 2018 continued the previous year’s momentum in San Antonio’s housing industry. San Antonio home sales in January were 1,760, a 4% increase over the 1,683 sold in January 2017. Meanwhile, the average home price was $245,670, a 2% increase from the $242,622 reported the year before, according to data from the San Antonio Board of Realtors (SABOR).

“Prices are continuing to increase, but still remain below the state average and median prices,” said Lorena Peña, SABOR’s 2018 Chairman of the Board. “Also, when we look at our entire market in the area, nearly half – 46% – of the homes here are still selling below $200,000.”

Meanwhile, Bexar County, of which San Antonio is the county seat, reported home prices below those of other large Texas metro areas. The county’s median home price in January 2018 was $198,250, in contrast to Travis County ($329,700) and Harris County ($205,000).
