San Antonio Airport Terminal C Gets Major Overhaul
San Antonio International Airport officials acknowledge Terminal A, which opened in 1984, needs an overhaul. Its corridors are narrow, and space is limited for seating, restrooms and retail/restaurants. The city has spent more than $35 million in recent years to update plumbing and heating systems, and other renovations just to keep the terminal functioning.
But a solution is on the way as Terminal C will create a single security checkpoint and replace Terminal A. Passenger growth projections put Terminal C in line for opening in 2038.
Terminal B, which opened in 2010 and operates 10 of the airport’s 23 gates, would be kept open under the plan. Foster CM Group provided program and construction management services on Terminal B, a five-story building, 2,815-space parking garage, terminal roadway and utility improvement project.
Foster CM is a subconsultant on the overall program management team for the airport’s $433 million expansion program, a multi-year program put in place to accommodate San Antonio’s growth and improve the facilities.
