A South Korean company that supplies parts and components for Samsung Electronics Co. plans to build a $46 million facility on a 24-acre plot it purchased in Manor earlier this year.

Wonik Materials Co. Ltd will build its factory less than 20 miles from Samsung’s $17 billion plant (photo) in Taylor. The company manufactures specialty gases and chemicals for the semiconductor industry. Three phases are planned at the site along Old Kimbro Road, which will include elements like distribution, quality assurance, quality control and production capabilities. The company plans to apply for incentives from the city.

Wonik expects to supply current and future customers from the facility including Samsung, NXP Semiconductors NV, Infineon Technologies AG and Texas Instruments Inc.
