
Samsung Effect Sparks Georgetown Chip Vendor Expansion
Schunk Xycarb Technology Inc. (SXT) is crediting the soon-to-open $19 billion Samsung plant as the impetus to expand. SXT is building a 140,000-square-foot facility at 200 Velocity Drive in Georgetown. They currently work out of a 40,000-square-foot plant seven miles away.
The Austin Business Journal reports construction is set to begin by the end of this year, and the quartzware product manufacturing company expects to move into the new space by the end of 2024. The production facility will include a clean room and high-purity cleaning system and allow them to expand an automation component of their business that they’ve been capitalizing on for years.
The Netherlands-based company supplies semiconductor components to manufacturers around the world, like Samsung.
