Sam’s Club Plans 166K-SF Mesa Store
Sam’s Club purchased 29 acres in Mesa for nearly $13 million to construct a 166,000-square-foot building and a 14-pump gas station. Owned by Walmart, Sam’s Club is a membership-only warehouse chain selling a variety of bulk grocery items, electronics and home goods.
An AZBEX report states the building will span 21 acres on the site located along Recker Road and Loop 202. The remaining eight acres will be reserved for other purposes, including retail, restaurant, fitness or entertainment. This will be the first Sam’s Club in Mesa and the tenth in Arizona.
The site is one of the final pieces to be developed in the 313-acre Longbow master plan. Other projects, such as a 12 West Brewery, a collection of retail stores and multifamily housing, are currently under review in the area.
Walmart announced in 2023 that its new stores will all have floral departments, seafood/sushi departments, and walk-in coolers.
