Salvation Army to Sell Harbor Light Center in Northeast DC

The Salvation Army has listed its longtime Harbor Light Center property, located at 2100 New York Avenue NE, for sale. Feldman Ruel has been selected as the exclusive broker for the sale effort.

2100 New York Avenue NE is being marketed as a 2.36-acre site as an adaptive reuse or redevelopment opportunity with more than 800,000 square feet of new density possible.

The Salvation Army originally purchased the property in 1993 and opened The Harbor Light Center shortly thereafter. The property initially served as a shelter. The facility is currently entitled via a planned-unit development for treatment facility use, as well as a warehouse and chapel that also serves as an auditorium.

Following a needs assessment in 2022, The Salvation Army permanently closed the facility and leased the majority of it to the District of Columbia. “We’re honored to be entrusted with this responsibility and for the opportunity to play our part in the continued transformation of the New York Avenue corridor,” said Josh Feldman, Managing Principal of Feldman Ruel.
