Salesforce Celebrates Grand Opening of San Francisco’s Tallest Tower
San Francisco celebrated the grand opening of the 1,070-foot Salesforce Tower with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a planned fireworks and light show commemorating the occasion, and to fete the $1-billion tower’s rise as a “symbol of the city.” The 1.4-million-square-foot skyscraper was developed by Boston Properties and Hines, and is a major milestone in the transformation of a thriving Transbay district.
In January, the enterprise software maker actually began moving the first 800 of roughly 5,000 workers into nearly 882,000 square feet on 36 floors of the 61-story building, the tallest in San Francisco. The Ohana Floor is set to open in September 2018 as a collaborative employee and customer gathering space, which can be used by nonprofit organizations on weeknights and weekends.
Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff and his wife Lynne, along with the company’s philanthropic arm, combined to donate $3 million to Hamilton Families’ Heading Home Initiative working to end homelessness in San Francisco.
