A report issued by the National Council for Home Safety and Security labeled six central Texas cities among the top 50 safest in the Lone Star State. The cities were:

• 7. Hutto
• 22. Georgetown
• 24. Leander
• 35. Lakeway
• 37. Cedar Park
• 50. Buda

The council is a national trade association consisting of licensed alarm installers and contractors, and it relied on population data and recent FBI crime statistics. The report ranked 224 Texas cities. Those with populations less than 10,000, or cities that didn’t turn in a complete crime report to the FBI, were not included.

Colleyville, in North Texas, was ranked No. 1 when it came to being Texas’ safest city.
