SA Healthcare Group Spending $140M on New Patient Tower

Methodist Healthcare is spending $140 million on a new patient tower along the Interstate 35 corridor near Loop 1604.

The multi‑story tower will significantly grow the Interstate 35 hospital campus’ inpatient capacity and support the future expansion of its patient services. The San Antonio Business Journal reports the new tower will increase the facility’s patient capacity from 237 beds to nearly 300. The three-story tower was built with plans to expand to six floors.  Construction is slated to begin in January 2026 and be completed by July 2027.

While Methodist’s project will add nearly 150,000 square feet to its Northeast campus footprint, the health system already anticipates there will be a need for more space given the population spike in multiple cities along the corridor including Live Oak, Cibolo, Schertz and Selma. The hospital group is making plans for a third medical office building in the region.
