SA Ballpark Plans Move Forward

An agency formed to forward efforts to build a new downtown San Antonio baseball stadium met for the first time. The group, known as the San Pedro Creek Development Authority, can sell bonds to fund the stadium and its adjacent development.

The current AAA San Antonio Missions owners are looking to build a four-phase project.

The San Antonio Business Journal reports the first phase is expected to cost up to $300 million. The most defined project the design of an apartment tower is slated to rise on the western bank of the San Pedro Creek at West Travis Street and North Santa Rosa Street, that could consist of 400 multifamily units.

Immediately south of the ballpark, the development team is planning a mixed-use structure with around 250 apartments and a 160-key hotel.

Both projects are supposed to finish in 2027. The ballpark itself, which is required to be operational in time for the 2028 season, is also in early stages.
