RXR Tops Out at Willoughby Rentals

Executives from RXR Realty and associated partners gathered recently for the topping out of The Willoughby. Developed for LIU Brooklyn, The Willoughby is a ground-up, residential building with a total of 476 units, including 143 affordable units.

The 600,200-square-foot development broke ground in September 2019 and progressed swiftly despite the ongoing pandemic. RXR and Hunter Roberts Construction Group implemented on-site health and safety protocols, including social distancing markers and signage, enhanced cleaning processes, and enough space for crew to work collaboratively and effectively.

“The Willoughby is exactly the type of game-changing project that strengthens our institutions and prepares for the future, creating an economic development model to provide well-paying jobs that are needed now more than ever,” said RXR president Michael Maturo. “Today’s topping off represents empirical evidence that we are bringing New York back to life–more specifically, putting New Yorkers back to work in a safe environment.”
