RPAI Completes Redevelopment of Historic Wilmette Center’s Apartments

Retail Properties of America, Inc. (RPAI) has completed the redevelopment of 18 apartment units at the historic Plaza del Lago mixed-use shopping center in Wilmette, IL, reportedly the second oldest in the U.S.

The newly-redeveloped portion of the center, known as the Residences at Plaza del Lago, will be available for occupancy this summer. RPAI closed on its acquisition of the circa-1928 property at the beginning of 2018.

“The completion of this project demonstrates our commitment to enhance this historic center, and we look forward to continuing to increase the overall center experience,” said RPAI’s Stacy Short.

Residents at Plaza del Lago’s apartment component will have access to the lakefront, walking trails, beaches and Northwestern University, as well as the center’s retail offerings. RPAI plans an open house at the Residences at Plaza del Lago for the general public on May 1.
