X-Bow building $30M rocket factory in tiny Luling Texas

Rocket Motor Maker Chooses Tiny Luling for its Next Factory

A tiny Texas town is about to get a big aerospace manufacturing facility. Luling, in Caldwell County, has been chosen by X-Bow Systems (pronounced cross-bow) to be the site to build rocket motors. X-Bow plans to invest $25 million in the new factory.

X-Bow Systems has started work on its facility on about 150 acres at the former home of the Carter Memorial Airport in Luling, a city of about 5,500 people located roughly 50 miles southeast of Austin.

It’s expected to employ dozens by the end of the year, and could employ hundreds within the next few years, with an investment totaling $25 million over the next two years.

The layout will include office buildings, warehouses, machine shops, manufacturing facilities and test facilities. Manufacturing is expected to start at the site by the end of this year.

“We needed a site big enough where we could manufacture and integrate and test and repeat over and over again all on one campus,” said X-Bow’s Max Vozoff.
