Robert A.M. Stern Joins Belnord Condo Conversion
April 10, 2017
Robert A.M. Stern Architects will redesign the landmark Belnord building to become luxury condominiums for developer HFZ Capital Group.
“It is a privilege to be able to be part of the reimagined Belnord, the grandest of New York’s turn-of-the-twentieth-century, full-square-block, courtyard buildings and a building I’ve long admired,” said Robert A.M. Stern Architects’ Robert A.M. Stern. “The Belnord has great bones, and we’re giving it a top-drawer restoration, preserving its original charm.”
The Landmarks Preservation Commission has already approved the plan for the 1908 limestone-and-brick, Italian Renaissance-style building on the Upper West Side. The Belnord was previously operated as a 218-unit apartment building. The first condominiums will be available for sale in late 2017.
