River Ranch County Park to Expand by 350 Acres

Williamson County Commissioners approved the addition of 350 acres to the River Ranch County Park. The more-than 1,000-acre park, currently undergoing its first phase of development, is on the border of Leander and Liberty Hill, Austin. The county, north of Austin, will pay $4.4 million for the acreage.

The additional land is being sold by two sellers, who own a combined 500 acres adjacent to the park construction. The sellers will retain 150 acres. The park’s entrance road will be off Bagdad Road, west of County Road 278.

Construction began on the park in December 2018. Upon completion, it will offer trails, camping, horse paths, RV parking and pavilions. Williamson County acquired the land in 2018 for $10.6 million, using voter-approved park bonds. The park’s first phase is scheduled for completion in spring 2020. Those involved with construction include Binkley & Barfield, Design Workshop, McKinney/York Architecture and Lynn Long Planning and Design.
