Richmond Road Wendy’s Shuts Down

Citing a crowded market and poor revenues, the Wendy’s Co. shut down its Texarkana, TX restaurant at 2902 Richmond Rd. The closure leaves Texarkana with two open Wendy’s, one at 110 E. 49th St. (State Line Road), and 3737 New Boston Rd., south of the shut-down Richmond Road location.

The location was marginal, according to the company’s Sam Markezich, and was close to the other Texarkana locations. “We aren’t trying to alienate our fans in those neighborhoods at all,” he said. “But our cluster of Wendy’s in this town are all located within two miles of each other, and it just didn’t make much sense.” He indicated that Wendy’s is looking at a new location, possibly further west in the area, but didn’t elaborate.
