Rice Management Taps Common Desk, Transwestern as Ion Partners

Rice University’s Rice Management Company (RMC), the developer of The Ion and surrounding district in midtown Houston, is partnering with Common Desk, a co-working and workday amenities provider, and Transwestern, which has been tapped to provide comprehensive property management support. The announcement comes three months after RMS signed Chevron as the 300,000-square-foot innovation hub’s first tenant.

Common Desk will operate more than 58,000 square feet of experiential, flexible office space on The Ion’s second floor, offering co-working, private offices, team office suites and a training room. It will also manage a coffee bar for workers.

For its part, Transwestern intends to create a seamless operations experience through its building, tenant, vendor, compliance, client, and administrative services. “Transwestern is excited to work alongside Rice Management Corporation as property and facilities manager for The Ion, while contributing to its mission of innovation, collaboration and inclusion,” said Kevin Roberts, Southwest president at Transwestern.
