RFP Calls for Marine Terminal Operator at Hunts Point

New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) is looking for would-be operators of a new marine terminal at Hunts Point in the South Bronx, and has issued an RFP to identify them. The project, which seeks to reduce truck traffic into and around the city, would utilize the nearby M-95 waterway.

“Activating a new marine terminal in Hunts Point is critical to diversifying our freight distribution system and keeping New York one of the most eco-conscious cities on the planet,” said James Patchett, NYCEDC’s president and CEO. “New York became the global capital of commerce because of our waterways. By reinvesting in this vital asset and moving more freight by barge, we are creating 21st century maritime jobs and ensuring goods reach New Yorkers faster.”

An information session on the plan is slated for Monday, April 8 at NYCEDC headquarters. Responses to the RFP are due by June 7.
