Rex Kim Selected to Oversee Oregon PERS Investments
The Oregon Treasury selected Rex Kim to oversee investment of the state’s Public Employees Retirement Fund, the Oregon Short Term Fund, and the Common School Fund. The Portland based investment consultant will take over as the Oregon State Treasury’s Chief Investment Officer early next month.
Treasurer Tobias Read said, “Rex is everything we are looking for in a CIO: smart, thoughtful, calm, and an industry leader. His background as an Oregon Investment Council member provides him a unique experience and familiarity with our team and our investment beliefs, and he’ll bring welcome continuity to our investment approach. I’m thrilled that he’s taking on this important role.”
Previously, Kim served on the Oregon Investment Council, a citizens panel overseeing investment assets, and has spent 25 years in various asset management and investment consulting roles. He replaces John Skjervem, who announced his resignation last month to take a position with a California private asset management firm.
