Retail Explosion in the Inland Empire

The Inland Empire has become a magnet for Millennials and young families. That increased population has spurred employers and companies to relocate into the region as they seek to take advantage of a lower cost of business.

The increasing needs of this growing population has spurred more than one million square feet of new retail development into the planning stage or currently under construction. Many cities are pursuing entitlement planning to add more service and lifestyle retail and dining options.

San Bernardino County Economic Development Agency’s Elisa Laurel says, “Affordable quality single family housing and higher-end multifamily communities in denser urban environments are attracting today’s younger demographic. Investors, developers and city officials are taking notice by providing greater retail diversity, walkability, and a range of new housing product that fits social and lifestyle demands.”

A few of the latest retail additions in the Inland Empire include:

  • Majestic Realty’s Mountain Grove in Redlands
  • Epicentre Rancho Cucamonga in Rancho Cucamonga
  • Renaissance Marketplace Retail Center in Rialto
  • Redlands Packinghouse District in historic downtown Redlands
  • Marketplace on Main in Hesperia
