Restaurant Lease Approved for Anthony’s Waterfront Site
Brigantine restaurant group secured approval on a 40-year lease with the San Diego Port commission, allowing construction to commence early next year on a planned $15- to $17-million Portside Pier project. The new 34,000-square-foot complex of four waterfront restaurants will replace Anthony’s Fish Grotto.
The prime waterfront site is set to undergo significant expansion, including transforming the restaurant space, building new pilings, enlarging the dock-and-dine facility with 12 vessel docking spaces and relocating the public promenade to a second-level viewing deck.
The lineup of new dining spots includes:
- Brigantine on the Bay, a surf and turf restaurant, oyster bar and lounge with exhibition-style cooking
- Miguel’s Cocina, Mexican food
- Ketch Grill and Taps, a casual walk-up, dine-in and take-out grill
- Portside Gelato & Coffee
Construction is anticipated to commence in April 2018, once the existing Anthony’s is demolished, with an opening roughly a year later.
