Restaurant Depot Nabs Land for Milwaukee Center
Restaurant Depot paid $4.2 million to acquire seven acres on Becher Street in Milwaukee. Next month, the cash-and-carry wholesale restaurant supplier will demolish abandoned buildings on the site to make way for a new 70,000-square-foot operation center.
According to Jerry Daws with Republic Property, the acquisition required a “prolonged negotiation” to convince the former property owners to sell. Republic Property brokered the transaction.
The new project’s estimated price tag is $12 million-$14 million, and completion is anticipated for fall of next year. Restaurant Depot is currently leasing space at 5250 S. Sixth Street. The new building will be two and one-half times larger than the existing facility.
Restaurant Depot supplies fresh produce, groceries, dairy, bar, bakery, catering and cleaning supplies to restaurant owners, schools, churches, hospitals and nonprofits.
