Resideo Completes Honeywell Spinoff, Targets Austin for HQ

Resideo Technologies Inc., a billion-dollar company that provides security and comfort systems for homes, officially completed its spin-off from Honeywell International Inc., and began trading on the NYSE. The company, currently headquartered in Minnesota, also announced it would relocate and place its new headquarters home in Austin. According to an announcement about the spinoff, Resideo plans to open up shop in the capital city in early 2019.

The location for the headquarters hasn’t been announced just yet, though the office will hold 100. Local media reported that the staff will consist of local hires, as well as transferred employees. Resideo told the Austin-American Statesman that “it saw an opportunity to act with a startup mentality,” and to take advantage of the region’s business-friendly environment, tech culture and relatively low cost of living.
