Report Shows Affordable Housing Vulnerability Areas
A recent report released by the National Association of Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB) showed parts of San Antonio representing areas of affordable housing vulnerability. Neighborhoods within Loop 410 – including those east and south of downtown San Antonio – are the most impacted.
The NALCAB analysis showed that 44% of renters in the metro pay more than 30% of their monthly income for housing. In a recent presentation to San Antonio’s Housing Commission to Protect and Preserve Dynamic and Diverse Neighborhoods, NALCAB’s Noel Andrés Poyo suggested that affordable housing focuses on choices considered affordable to at least half of area households.
He also indicated that factors including population growth, public investment, new housing production and unstable incomes could impact affordable housing stock.
