Report: Scottsdale Airpark Dubbed an “18-Hour City”
The Scottsdale Airpark, anchored by the Scottsdale Airport, consists of a nine-acre-square-mile area bordered by Scottsdale Road and North Miller Roads, with Phoenix due west, and the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community just to the southeast. And, according to Colliers International in Arizona’s Scottsdale Airpark 2030 Report, the area is becoming an 18-hour city, holding an increasing mix of apartments, retail, hotel amenities and office space.
Once a commercial submarket focused on light industrial and manufacturing space, “the Scottsdale Airpark has experienced a renaissance of sorts, formulating its own urban character, that is proving very attractive to employers,” said Jim Keeley, SIOR, CCIM, founder of the Scottsdale Office of Colliers International.
The submarket’s 2019 highlights include Tesla’s opening of its 40,000-square-foot service center, two more multifamily properties added by Optima, and tech company Shmoop University’s relocation to the airpark.
