Report: Guadalupe County Population Could Reach 284K by 2040
Guadalupe County, located northeast of San Antonio, is mapping out its first strategic plan. And, according to draft results of a new study, the population in the county is expected to top 284,000 by 2040. The findings are courtesy of a preliminary analysis from economists at Texas Perspectives, which is, in turn, part of a team led by Gap Strategies. The latter is the comprehensive planning firm helping the county with its plan.
Gap Strategies’ Jeff Barton recently told county commissioners that growth is being driven by a strong economy in what is dubbed the “new mega region” of the greater Austin-San Antonio area. The leading employment sectors are utilities, education, health services, manufacturing and hospitality. There is, however, somewhat of an income divide between the county; the western edge (along Interstate 35) shows higher home values and incomes, and lower poverty than the county seat of Seguin, TX.
