Renovation Planned for 33 Washington St. in Newark, NJ
Berger Organization is planning extensive renovations for 33 Washington St., a 450,000-square-foot office tower in Newark, NJ.
“The demand for Class A office space in Newark continues to grow, and 33 Washington’s location and amenities make it a highly desirable address,” said Miles Berger, CEO of Berger Organization.
The work will include a new lobby, updated systems, a new streetscape and “fit-outs for Newark’s emerging high-tech tenant base,” according to Berger, which bought the property in March 2017. Built in 1970 for Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield, the well-known property is in the James Street Commons Historic District. A group of private investors are negotiating with city officials to redevelop Washington Park, directly across the street from 33 Washington St.
