REM to Launch MXU Construction in Q2

REM Hospitality is readying to begin work on its mixed-use project in downtown San Antonio. The locally based developer will start construction on its Cambria Hotel-anchored development in Q2 2017.

In addition to the 18-story, 185-key boutique hotel, the development at 100 N. Main St. will include 50,000 square feet of office space and 3,400 square feet of retail space. What the development will be lacking is parking.

REM’s Anand Bhakta told the San Antonio Business Journal that, because the site is less than half an acre, with restricted access, a car wouldn’t have a fully turning radius, nor enough room to get into a parking spot. Additional options, such as an automated parking garage or below-grade lot, were considered too expensive or impractical.

REM is working with the city of San Antonio to figure out additional parking methods. At this point, the guests will have access to valet parking.
