Related, Segerstrom Propose 5,000 Residences in Adjacent Projects

Redevelopment plans for two aging shopping centers may introduce a new kind of living to the South Coast Metro area in Santa Ana, reported the Orange County Register. Combined, the two scenarios would add more than 5,000 residential units.

Related California has proposed Related Bristol, a two-block development of up to 3,750 residential units, a 250-room hotel, a 200-unit senior living tower and up to 350,000 square feet of restaurants and shops. If approved, the project could break ground as early as 2026.

The Segerstrom family, creators of South Coast Plaza, has also recently released a proposal for the South Coast Village annex, adjacent to Related Bristol’s western flank. To be called The Village Santa Ana, it envisions more than 1,500 residential units, office and retail space.

Steven Oh, EVP at Related California and lead executive on the Related Bristol project, said the projects are complementary, not competitors, and the two entities have had good communication throughout their process.
