Related Midwest Proposes Two 50-Story+ Towers in Chicago
Two residential towers envisioned to exceed 50 stories were proposed in Chicago’s West Loop. Related Midwest and Tucker Development are seeking approvals on a 58-story, 3700-unit apartment and hotel tower at 725 W. Randolph St. The second development, also proposed by Related Midwest, is a 51-story tower with 300 condominiums.
The apartment/hotel site is located between the Kennedy Expressway and Halsted Street, and the condo site is at 170 N. Peoria St. The two towers would be the tallest structures in the Fulton Market/West Loop neighborhood.
Related Midwest is eying a mid-2019 start of construction on both of its projects. District residents have found more favor with the apartment/hotel project, because the site is next to the highway, near other tall buildings. The condo building faces more opposition, because residents believe it would strain the already overloaded infrastructure in the area.
