Related Hits Key Construction Milestone in DTLA at The Grand LA

Construction continues on Related Cos. The Grand LA, the Frank Gehry-designed mixed-use project in Downtown Los Angeles that encompasses residential, hotel, dining, retail and entertainment options. The long-awaited development reached a critical halfway point in construction on a project expected to open in early 2022.

The Grand LA’s various levels and pedestrian experience is easily recognizable along Grand Ave. as is the facade on the 39-story tower containing 436 residential units. A second 20-story tower will contain a 309-room Equinox Hotel and there’s more than 176,000 square feet of stores and restaurants planned. Both towers are expected to top out in early 2021.

The Grand LA will complete the famed architect’s vision for Grand Avenue and represents the only place in the world where two of Frank Gehry’s architectural designs will face each other from across the street. Gehry’s architectural masterpiece the Walt Disney Concert Hall opened in 2003.
