Regency Moves Forward with $230M UTC Redev
Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers Corp. is seeking to move forward on a $230-million expansion and redevelopment of Costa Verde Center in University Towne Center. Plans include updating the 30-year-old center, by adding a 200-room boutique hotel and as many as 30 new stores and restaurants.
Regency plans to incorporate a rooftop community garden and park, improved pedestrian and bikeway connections to surrounding residential developments, a community room, outdoor gathering spaces, and sustainable design features. Regency also wants to add a direct connection to a future extended Mid-Coast Trolley station.
The expansion is expected to start in 2019, with an opening slated for 2020. The city needs to complete environmental reviews, as well as reviews and approvals from the Planning Commission and City Council.
