Regency Begins 180K-SF Field at Commonwealth

Regency Centers Corp. launched construction on a new Washington DC retail center. The 180,000-square-foot Field at Commonwealth, at U.S. 28 and Westfields Boulevard in Chantilly, VA, will be anchored by a 120,000-square-foot Wegmans Food Market. The development cost is $44.5 million. Completion is anticipated in 2018.

The Field at Commonwealth plans to take advantage of the surrounding Class A office market, as well as affluent neighborhoods. “The importance of bringing the dominant gourmet grocer in the Washington, D.C. market to the project cannot be overstated,” said Regency Centers’ Devin Corini. “The unrivaled product offering and shopping experience that Wegmans is known for will serve the surrounding community well.”
