Redlands Seeks to Redevelop Historic Packinghouse
When the state eliminated the Redevelopment Agency in 2011, it left many properties in limbo. Since then, cities across the state have grappled with how to continue the redevelopment of properties.
This week, the city of Redlands Economic Development Manager Mike Nelson toured the former Mutual Orange Distributors Packinghouse in hopes of selling the abandoned facility. The city was named the Successor Agency and is required to sell properties, including the historic packinghouse, owned by the now-defunct state agency.
The property, located at 330 Third St., was built in 1912 and served as a fruit packing house.
