Redevelopment Process Initiated for Dana Point Harbor
A formal request for bids to revitalize the 276.8-acre Dana Point Harbor was issued Wednesday by the County of Orange. Under a 50-year master ground lease, four primary areas are targeted for revitalization, including a Commercial Core, a Hotel, the West Basin Marina, and the East Basin Marina.
The County envisions partnering with a private developer, who would design, permit, fund, construct, renovate and operate improvements within the county-owned facility that opened in 1971.
The plan includes more than 116,000 square feet of restaurant, retail, office and marine retail related space, as well as dry boat storage and a boat launch ramp. The current 136-room hotel would be expanded to 220 rooms, and the marinas would contain no fewer than 2,293 boat slips. Interested developers have until June to submit statements of qualifications.
