Redevelopment Plan Revealed for DC Apartment Complex
Alex Bensahel, Jessie Kaye, and Jason Stern, through their respective firms Bensahel Capital and Kaye Stern Properties, are planning a redevelopment project in DC, Washington Business Journal reported.
The project involves the Martin’s View apartment complex on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SW, adjacent to Fort Greble Park and I-295. The proposal includes replacing the existing two- and three-story buildings on the 5-acre site with five- and six-story mid-rises and a below-grade garage. The redevelopment aims to add 665 net new units, with over 100 units designated as affordable housing at 50% or 60% of the median family income.
The phased project is expected to span the remainder of the decade, with the first building anticipated to be delivered in about three years. The development team includes Eric Colbert & Associates, LandDesign, Gorove Slade Associates Inc., Vika, Brick & Story, and Goulston & Storrs PC.
