Redevelopment of Downtown Memphis Tower Underway
A recognizable downtown Memphis office building is ready for a change. 100 N. Main Development Partners are ready to go with their $6.5 million demolition job on the office tower, which has been vacant for years. The 37-story tower is owned by a public agency that has hired the developer to prepare the building for its grand re-opening. The demolition work is expected to go toward abatement and interior tear down mostly, but getting elevators or a hoist system, temporary power and lighting, safety measures, debris, waste, and mold removal are all on the list.
The tower will feature 180 to 210 apartments; a hotel with 154 to 200 rooms; a renovation to the existing, 420-car parking garage; 60,000 square feet of office space for the City of Memphis; and 38,000 square feet of restaurant, retail, and rooftop amenity space.
There will also be an infill structure built to the south of the tower, featuring more apartments and retail.
The project is estimated to cost $261 million to redevelop the tower.
