Red Dot Moving Its HQ from Tukwila to Pullyap
Globally focused, locally based – HVAC manufacturer Red Dot is moving its headquarters from Tukwila, Wash., to Pullyap, Wash. The company’s new digs are 200,000 square feet across two buildings, according to a news release.
Red Dot will lease the space from IDI Logistics, located at the Puyallup Logistics Center at 2504 E. Main St. Matt McGregor of Colliers represented Red Dot in the lease transaction.
This is IDI Logistics’ first investment in the Puget Sound market, but the company already has more local plans its local pipeline, first reported here.
Employee-owned Red Dot has a cool corporate history – it started as a side hustle. From its About page online:
Red Dot traces its beginnings to the late 1950’s, when Harcourt G. “Harky” Runnings started a sideline business making heaters at his automotive radiator repair shop in West Seattle.
Custom-made for mail trucks operating on the Alaska Highway, they were built for performance and durability. Harky’s reputation grew, and soon cooling and heating trucks was his principle line of work. In 1965, he incorporated Red Dot with a plan to develop heating and air conditioning products specifically for heavy-duty vehicles and off-highway equipment.
