Red Development Employees Get Free Meals at Portfolio Tenants

Phoenix-based Red Development launched a program that allows its employees to eat at restaurants within the company’s portfolio and be reimbursed by the company. Employees and their immediate families can eat for free at Red Development properties as the COVID-19 pandemic plays out.

Red Development’s Scott Rehorn says the idea came from hearing what Dallas Mavericks owner and entrepreneur Mark Cuban said. Rehorn told the Phoenix Business Journal, “[Cuban] said he wanted to keep local restaurants in business, and I thought, we have a lot of employees who are on the front lines for us, keeping our properties clean and safe.”

Red owns 16 mixed-use developments and employs about 100 people in Arizona. The program keeps money flowing into businesses that have been hurt during COVID-19 closures. Launched last month, the perk has been extended until April 19.
