1924 Travis Building goes from office to apartments

RE Group Converts Downtown San Antonio Offices into Apartments

The Travis Building is a San Antonio landmark, built in 1924, and restored in 1983. The San Antonio Business Journal reported that Harris Bay took out an $18.25 million loan to purchase the building in late 2020. Since then it’s spent over $5 million on the renovation. The developers also received a $5 million Texas Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) loan from the city and Bexar County. The 63-unit multifamily conversion is a mixture of mostly 1- or 2-bedrooms, as well as a few penthouses. Rents start at $1,550 and top out $3,200 for those penthouse units.

While the apartments themselves are ready for leasing, the lobby is still undergoing construction. It’s expected to be ready later this year.

Local architecture firm CREO Architecture designed the project. DJE Texas Management Group is a co-developer on the project.
