R.D. Olson Breaks Ground Outside Orange County
Newport Beach-based R.D. Olson Development broke ground this week on its latest hotel, a 204-room Residence Inn by Marriott Silicon Valley in San Carlos, CA. The four-story, 148,596-square-foot, all-suites hotel is designed around a theme that pays homage to the local area.
The design is influenced by Bair Island on the coast of the Peninsula and Silicon Valley’s tech industry. Wooden open truss ceilings and real wood flooring in the lobby, paired with dark brick siding and finished millwork, creates a warehouse feel that speaks to the hotel’s Millennial-minded, tech-savvy clientele, while remaining relaxing and authentic.
Los Angeles-based DLR Group will perform architecture for the hotel, and Seattle-based Degen & Degen will perform interior design. Construction is planned for completion in summer of next year.
