QuikTrip, Government Hill Residents Face Off Over 2-Acre Rezoning Request
QuikTrip Corp. wants to open a convenience store and gas station on two acres at North Walters Street and the Interstate 35 access road in San Antonio’s Government Hill neighborhood. But, the neighbors of this east side area are fearful that the station will lower property values and have a negative impact on the area’s health and safety. The development would also be near an elementary school.
QuikTrip, headquartered in Tulsa, OK, indicated that a high masonry wall would surround the store. In addition, a proposed driveway relocation would ensure that headlights from departing vehicles shine on a street, instead of on homes.
The city’s Zoning Commission will hear the change request on Jan. 21, 2020, then the request will go to the Planning Commission on Jan. 22. The area subject to the change are currently zoned residential, with rental housing owned by Sara Martinez and the Jackson Cloma Living Trust.
Connect Houston will take place Feb. 4 in Houston. For more information, or to register, click here.
